Orlando International Drive Area Suites
Here we will try to clarify and define what a 'Suites Hotel'
property actually is and where to find them in the other categories.
We will also list these property types via our unique ‘Room
Locator,’ which will also list the Orlando International Drive
area accommodations ‘By Type’
and by ‘Alphabetical Listing.’
Of the Suites Hotels that would fully meet our definitions
of a Suite Hotel, these can be mostly found beginning at Carrier
Drive and Canada Avenue of our mapping system (Map
#2), which then continues through our other map sections passing
such names as Summerfield Suites, Residence Inn by Marriott, Parc
Corniche and then ending at Ramada Inn Vacation Suites located the
junction of International Drive and Westwood Blvd on Map
#5.
The highest density of suite properties will always be
found either on or near Universal Blvd, all lined up in a row and
neat as a pin. These can be found on Maps
#3 off the International Drive mapping system, and in most
cases, these properties have all seemed to be position themselves as
closely as possible to the corporate and convention markets that
exist in this area. Naturally, this is due to their proximity to the
Orlando Orange County Convention Center, which can be found at the
very top of Map #4.
Our description of 'Suites' will be a collection of rooms
including full cooking facilities designed for family use and with
the entire property being 'Kid Friendly'.
They should all include at least a living area and 1 bedroom.
Another way to explain it is an area where a family can have their
own space and that is more suited to a longer stay.
The property should have an abundance of services for Kids, games
rooms, in room Video with rental, some even having their own
check-in area etc.

The subject of 'Suites' has long been a bone of contention
among many visitors to the area, not to mention the businesses
themselves.
One of the primary reasons for this is that no matter how many
materials a property may use in a room diagram, or in an accurate
description of their room types... It never ceases to amaze us as to
how many visitors are expecting something completely different...
In a final analysis, it seems to just come down to the word itself
and how it is used.
'Kids Suites', 'Open L-Shaped Suites' and 'Inns & Suites' are
mostly comprised of hotel rooms with a few efficiencies.
Rooms that include 'Mini-Refrigerator', 'Microwave' or even a
'Fully-Equipped Kitchen' do not fit our bill, as they do not have
separate bedrooms.
The above properties will only be found in their respective category
under Hotels
where these features will be listed as an amenity rather than an
accommodation type.

Though there are others that would fit this requirement
e.g. vacation homes and villas (see Kissimmee,
Florida Villa Locator). For us, Suites are housed in one
property that will have other facilities and will be more like
apartments than hotel rooms.
A note for British Visitors to Orlando - I would recommend that you
seriously contemplate picking a Suites type accommodation when
planning a family holiday in the area, especially for two weeks. 14
days is a long time to be all locked together in one room, no matter
how luxurious.
